WPA Leaders Arrive in Nepal Ahead of Int’l Buddhist Chanting Ceremony

World Peace Association Secretary-General Sattva Zhang and Project Manager Emmanuel Escoto Gonzalez arrived in Kathmandu, Nepal’s capital city, on Tuesday, ahead of the International Buddhist Chanting Ceremony. They were warmly received at the airport by members of the Nepalese Committee for the Praying and Chanting Ceremony in Nepal.

Despite the jet lag, Secretary-General Zhang immediately got down to work, meeting with members of the committee and hotel management to prepare for the upcoming event, which is being co-hosted by the World Peace Association and Nepal’s Ministry of Tourism.

On December 18, the World Peace Association held an organizational meeting with the most revered Lama Kasland, a monk at the Buddha Dharma Mahabihar Sangye Chhoeling Monastery, a sponsor of the ceremony, as well as a member of the committee.

Their preparations will continue in the coming days, as 3,000 monks and local families are expected to attend the large-scale International Buddhist Praying and Chanting Ceremony, at the Soaltee Crowne Plaza on January 3, 2020.
